A Peek at some new work for Winter Wonders Show.
Hard to believe we have been home from our travels for only 3 weeks. Amazing I got anything done while dealing with some wicked jet lag.
At any rate, here's something new from me - a new twist on birds. It's a work in progress. And I don't have any time to take pictures of the new pieces - rather be making stuff.
So here's a preview -
They are fun to do but right now it looks like a tropical bird exploded in my studio - feathers everywhere!
The trio will be making their debut at the Winter Wonders Show - details are in the blog.
I'm a lampworker - I love playing with fire and making glass beads and jewelry

Winter Wonders Holiday Glass Show
This show is sponsored by Glass Act and I believe it's our 10th year doing this show.
It's a lovely show full of handmade glass work. There is a wide variety of work available.
All done by local glass artists.
I will be there with new work - and if I get myself together, I will post new pieces that will be available
But in the meantime, see if you can guess which piece on the post card is mine...

Home again -
Good to be home from BeadFest Summer. As per usual, we had a wonderful time at the show, seeing our old friends and making new ones.We fit right into our new home on Artisan's Alley and discovered that the drapery there matched our table coverings perfectly!
And we enjoyed shopping of course and talking with the vendors we see there each year.
Hope to return next year! But for now, time to prepare for Bead Bonanza, Southfield, MI - Sunday, October 9th.

Kokeshis
A while back I found this book in the DIA (Detroit Institute of Arts) gift shop - one of my favorite places to find neat book. I thought it was so cute and that maybe it could be an inspiration for beads.
Koskeshi are wooden Japanese dolls that have simple shapes and are painted with designs that range from simple to very complex. It is an on-going project but am making improvements.
So here are a few of my interpretations of Kokeshis - a work in progress -
A BeadPen made using one of the Kokeshi -
They make cute pendants as well.

New Work -
Here is a new piece I came up with
using a bead made of silver glass using techniques I learned from a Haley Tsang class in silver glass.
I paired it with some crystals I had stashed away, some aurora rondells and silvery gray pearls.
It took several tries it get it where I wanted it but I think it turned out well. The picture appears a little darker than the piece actually is.
When finished, it reminded me of Elsa, the ice queen in the Disney movie, Frozen. There are matching earrings and bracelet.

August 2016
It is sad to see such a neglected blog - what can I say except I would rather be torching or traveling.
But it's time to update. We Foxes will be heading to Oaks, PA for Beadfest Summer Expo, August 19 - 21.
It's a great show, not as overwhelming as Bead and Button can be (and with free parking!) and vendors from all over the country.
Will be post a discount coupon for entry to the Expo as soon as I get it.
But in the meantime, here's a BeadPen designed by one of my customers using my disk beads and silver glass beads.
